Blossom
This too shall pass.
I know how much it hurts, the wound on your heart is still fresh and tender; an open wound gushing with blood and pain. An ocean of emotions overwhelm you, making you feel as if there’s no point to life, because now there’s nothing left to gain.
Desperation and pain morphs into Dark Red Roses as you mourn. You feel shattered, just like all your memories, and the future possibilities, of what could have been born.
Chamomile blossoms as you refuse to accept the ugly reality. There must be some price you can pay. Anything to make them stay.
Calla Lillies form as you cry, while beautiful memories full of joy flit through your mind as you ask why? You know what you’ve lost. Something irreplaceable, so with emptiness, you lay there, defeated and in despair.
But don’t despair. Because as intense as these emotions are, as overwhelming as the pain is, eventually they will fade. And as these flowers wither away, Rosemary will bloom in their place.
The pain will still be there, but just as a dull ache. You’ll feel bittersweet as you look back, as if visiting a grave. Small reminders might bring with it a fresh pain, but eventually that too will go away. Until the wound remains forever closed, Rosemary gone, and Pink Carnations in its place.
No longer will there be desperation, pain, or melancholy. All that’s left will be gratitude, for the memories left behind that we once cherished as if holy. We’ll carry them with us as we go on with our lives, grateful for the joy they once brought us; for the things that they’ve taught us.
Until eventually, the Pink Carnations wither away, leaving only the scars on our hearts; gilded scars that remind us that while people fade, in and out of our lives, they stay forever with us; in the memories they’ve gifted us; in the ways they’ve influenced us.
We should celebrate, not their loss, nor the absence of pain, but their presence in our lives. Their essence remembered, etched on our hearts, as beautiful flowers blossom from our time together and apart.
